A shower filter is not a water softener
Most of what gets sold as a “hard water fix” for your shower isn't one. Softening means removing dissolved calcium and magnesium, and that takes a plumbed-in ion-exchange unit. Nothing that screws onto a shower arm can do it, and we're not going to tell you otherwise.
What a filter does change is everything else in the water: the chlorine used to disinfect the supply, and the sediment and rust picked up on the way to your house. That's what makes a hard-water shower feel harsh — and it's the part you can actually fix today.

What actually changes
No miracle claims. Here is the specific, checkable list.
Less chlorine
Coconut-shell activated carbon and KDF-55 are the standard media for reducing free chlorine in shower water. That swimming-pool smell is the first thing to go.
Less sediment and rust
Layered stainless mesh and PP cotton catch particulates down to 1–5 microns — the grit and rust that older pipework sheds into the supply.
Fits what you already own
A standard ½" thread, the same as UK shower arms and hoses. Nothing to replace and nothing to drill.
Two minutes to fit
Unscrew the head, tape the thread, screw the filter on, screw the head back. Hand-tight, no wrench, no plumber.
Cartridge you change yourself
The housing unscrews by hand. Swapping a spent cartridge takes about a minute and the filter stays on the wall.
Rated for 50,000 litres
Roughly four to six months in an average household, to the manufacturer's rating. Harder water and longer showers shorten it.
Fitting
On the wall in about two minutes
Everything you need is in the box. If your shower head unscrews by hand, this fits.

Unscrew your shower head
Turn the shower off and twist the head anticlockwise by hand. A cloth gives you grip without scratching the chrome. Keep the rubber washer.

Wrap the thread
Three or four turns of the supplied PTFE tape, clockwise. Wrapped the other way it unwinds as you screw the filter on.

Screw the filter on
Hand-tight onto the shower arm. Don't reach for a wrench — overtightening is the usual way to damage the seal.

Refit the head and flush
Tape the outlet, screw your shower head back on, then run cold for a minute. A little carbon dust on first use is normal.

Stage composition and the 50,000-litre cartridge rating are specified by the manufacturer. This is a shower filter — it is not certified for drinking water, and it does not soften hard water.

Why we only sell one thing
One product, described properly
AquaPure started with an ordinary domestic complaint: a shower in a hard-water part of the UK that left skin tight and hair that never quite felt clean. Filtering the water before it came out was the thing that made a difference.
So we sell one filter, and we try to describe it accurately — including what it can't do. We would rather lose a sale to an honest answer than win one with a claim that falls apart in the shower.

Will it fit my shower?
If your shower head unscrews from the arm or hose by hand, yes. The filter uses a standard ½" (G1/2) thread, the same as UK shower arms and hoses. It will not fit an electric shower unit with a sealed outlet, or a rain head plumbed directly into the ceiling with no accessible thread.
Does it soften hard water?
No. Softening means removing dissolved calcium and magnesium, which needs a plumbed-in ion-exchange unit. This filter reduces chlorine, sediment, rust and some trace metals — the things that make a hard-water shower feel harsh — but your kettle will still scale up.
Will it drop my water pressure?
It is rated at 8 litres per minute and works between 0.1 and 0.35 MPa. On a typical mains-pressure UK shower most people notice no difference. On an already-weak gravity-fed shower you may notice a small drop.
How long does a cartridge last?
The manufacturer rates it at 50,000 litres — roughly four to six months for an average household. Harder water, more people and longer showers shorten that. You will notice the chlorine smell returning when it is due.
How long will delivery take?

No. This is a shower filter, not a drinking-water purifier, and it is not certified for treating potable water.
